Keith and Bob spent all day Friday, the 2nd, tilling the garden. All morning on Saturday they spent putting more dirt in the garden. Keith said they unloaded tons of dirt-twice--once from the back of the truck to the wheelbarrow and once from the wheelbarrow to the garden. Late Saturday afternoon Sarah, Keith and I headed to a place that Keith told me about called Russell Farms. Talk about gorgeous plants! It's a farm and it's what they do for a living and what a difference to see healthy, big, beautiful flowers. veggies and herbs. I do get some nice stuff from Lowe's and Wal-Mart--but often I have to search for the best looking stuff. Not so with this farm. It all was nice and healthy-looking. And, the prices were so reasonable. We bought a lot of stuff to start our garden with and the rest we will use seeds that either Keith or I already have. We started planting late in the day--probably around 5. We kept going until dark--8 or 8:30. Bob turned on our bright spot light to help us plant the last few beets--and were we ever beat when we were done! We did a quick clean-up of tools, etc. Then, we collapsed into the patio chairs. After a little rest we decided to order a late dinner from Outback.

First thing this morning, I finished planting what we didn't get done Saturday night--romaine lettuce, cucumbers and herbs.

Bob and I went to Wal-Mart today and picked up some marigolds to put around the outside edges of the garden. I think we will need to plant more, but at least we have some. I also bought some dusty miller and begonias and planted them in some empty pots that I had.

I love looking out into the yard at all the beautiful flowers, plants and vegetables.
