WOW! Here we are, starting a new decade. It's hard to believe we have already gotten to a new decade. Just yesterday, Bob and I were talking about how it doesn't seem all that long ago that everyone was worried about Y2k and the computers all crashing and everything. People had to volunteer to stay all night at work in case the computers crashed. (they never did) And, here we are, already into 2010.
I was telling Bob that when I was a kid and if we started talking about the year 2000, I always imagined myself as being really old and I think I pictured the year 2000 as being really futuristic. Star Trek type of stuff. (this was before the Back To The Future movies)
And although there have been a lot of technological breakthroughs since I was a kid, we haven't exactly reached the Star Trek point, yet. When I was a kid we had the old rotary dial phones. And we only had 3 TV stations, 4, if you count PBS. (ABC, NBC & CBS) They all went off the air at midnight and came back on at 6 am.
I do enjoy thinking back to how things were and how far we've come. I look forward to seeing all the new technology about to come. I told Bob that what I would like to do on New Year's Eve 2014 is to watch the 2nd Back To The Future movie--the one that takes place in 2015. They have flying cars and self-drying clothes, self-walking dogs and all kinds of cool technology. I want to watch the movie then see what technology we really have in 2015. Can you believe it? That is only 5 years away. Back when I first saw the movie the year 2015 seemed so far away. I was an adult then, but it still seemed so far away. It made me wonder if we really would have all those cool things by then. Not too much longer and we will find out.
But for now I want to enjoy 2010 and see what new things they bring us this year.
