Wow, May is just about over and this is my only post this month. It seems like our May turned out to be an extremely busy month. We just kept getting things we had to add to our schedule and they they wouldn't stop.
I started the month by attending Sarah's poster session in Baltimore on May 3rd. They had a poster session for all the graduate candidates. Sarah's of course was the best project--"I Misunderstand -- And So Can You." About all the ways there are to miscommunicate.
All the projects were very good and I could tell the students worked very hard at their research and they all were very happy to be done with their masters degrees. They all were happy to discuss their projects.
Two projects that were of special interest to me had to do with the disabled. One was on close captioning for the deaf. Since I take sign language classes, it was very interesting. The other one was about all the technology there is for the disabled today and how it helps them. Since I support a company that is big into hiring disabled, it was very interesting to me as well.
The week following the poster session was jammed packed with 2 bridal showers I had to help with. That took a lot of time. Plus, I had to take time out to run to the dentist that week. Then over the weekend my friends and I celebrated a friend b'day. We had lunch and did some shopping. That was fun for 2 reasons. It's always fun to get together with my friends, but also because it signaled the end of a very long, exhausting week. The next day was Mother's Day--so at least I had a chance to relax a little bit.
The next week wasn't too bad as far as extra activities go--but I was very busy with work. Just work alone is exhausting and I'm ready to go to bed by the time I get home. That Friday, the 15th, our day off, I had an appointment with our banker to go over our finances. After that, I had errands to run then went home to clean. Saturday, the 16th we went to a wedding. That was a fun, relaxing evening. Bob and I danced a lot. I'm always glad to get some good exdercise after eating a big meal.
The following week, I pushed myself a little harder to get things cleared off my desk so that I would be in good shape by Thursday afternoon. I left at noon Thursday, took Friday off and decided to have a long, fun, relaxing weekend. (Memorial Weekend)

Monday--May 25th
Yesterday, we had 2 celebrations. One for Shawn for his birthday and one for Sarah for earning her MA. Keith's family came over and Megan joined us later once she was done working at the air show.
We didn't make plans to attend the air show this year--but that doesn't mean we've been missing the Blue Angels. They started practicing Thursday afternoon, practiced Friday afternoon and performed Saturday and Sunday. They fly right over our house, so, we get to enjoy some of the show without the crowd and without sitting in the heat all day.
I baked 2 cakes--one for Sarah and one for Shawn. Linda brought a fantastic mixed berry pie. And, I put out strawberries and melted chocolate chips in my Cuisinart fondue pot. Mmmm.....
Bob did his usual great job of cooking on the grill. We put out watermelon and I made potato salad. We had a good time.
Today is Memorial Day--my main plan of the day is to relax. I still have a few dishes and things to put away from last night, but for the most part, it is a relaxing, do what I want to do day.
And, that sums up our May. Not very interesting, but very busy.
The next week at work shouldn't be too bad. I only have to work 3 days then we are off again since it's our Friday off. Then, mercifully, it will be June and hopefully a lot less busy month.
